These are all the key factors that motivate the growth in the global mobile payment market. Taiwan is now officially entering into the first year of mobile payments. One should not neglect the critical issues of mobile payment implementation and service models. The competitive profile in the mobile payment market continues to progress since the hardware and software technologies have advanced to the next level, plus its innovations for the service model. This article discussed these aspects from the regional market potential of global mobile payments to the service models, industrial dynamics as well as social impact. It provides guidelines as a reference for the mobile payment vendors in Taiwan to consider it.

The Taipei City Government has set up some 4G network infrastructure consecutively to implement each element in the smart city. It also provides payment methods for the citizens to pay all registration fees by electronic means. In the future, the government plans to combine the activities in the business district with mobile payments, cash flow and other convenient services that are easy for the public to apply.

The Taipei City Government has built up the first “IoT experimental platform” in Taiwan. It has become a trial field, which integrates the value chain of a smart city and applied industries. Because of that, it can trigger multiple applications as well as innovations. It can also lead the industry to develop a solution and a model for whole factory exports. To speed up promoting a smart city and IoT applications and innovations, the government finished deploying the scope of communications. The scope can cover the entire WSNs in IoT (LoRa) across Taipei City. People expected that the government would display all types of innovations and applications on the international stage at the Universiade 2017 and WCIT 2017 by opening up the city to serve as a field for experimental use. It can bring in sufficient energy for research and development.

The e-Commerce craze continues to spread across the world. Many traditional industries have started to explore sales channels for its e-Commerce more actively. In this journal, plenty of successful cases that received the “incentive and subsidy plan for industrial development in Taipei City” may include “Türk Kızları”. Such case puts in a lot of effort in its e-Commerce platform service and product improvement for its content through project implementation. “Türk Kızları” cultivates designers to design cultural and creative products, offers internship opportunities and employability for students from the Department of Turkish, and expects them to become e-Commerce leaders in Turkey. It offers extensive and in-depth content information for the consumers to read. A second case is “Mr. Good”. It connects farmers and fishermen, processing factories, restaurants, cooking studios and consumers to come up with a R&D plan so that it can comply with the feature of quality agriculture and support the production of sustainable agriculture as well as the industrial value chain for manufacturing and marketing. It helps the farmers and fishermen who are less familiar with the production and marketing end to do the processing and packaging work and sell their agricultural products. It sets up an exclusive procedure to handle perishable foods, shortening the route from the place of origin to the dining table. It increases the value of agricultural products for its added value.

While many are interested in starting their own business around the world, Taiwan is also proactively creating a friendly environment for business starters. The central government and respective local governments are introducing various incentives for people starting their own business. Private incubation centers, venture accelerators, shared workspaces, and maker spaces are mushrooming, too. For a new company, however, how to make their innovative brand known by others is important and is something they must accomplish. The author suggests that they may take advantage of the international market, a venture agent, various venture competitions and events and the Go Incubation Board for Startup and Acceleration Firms as four major ways to create a higher-level brand. New companies in Taiwan are able to light up their own brand utilizing various strategies. Therefore, they glow in Taiwan and are in the spotlight on the international stage. What is more important is that they can transform their brand image into value on the capital market in order to gain sufficient fuels that keep the fire of innovation going!

The latter will be advantageous niche for Taipei while it tries to reach out to the Asia Pacific market.

The Taipei City Government’s Department of Economic Development has launched” Taipei City Government Start-up Programs for Subsidy entrepreneurial team abroad” to encourage startup teams to broaden their international horizon, strengthen their connections with the world in terms of funding, talent, and technology.Venture teams with potential that are registered in Taipei are sponsored while they try to establish presence in international accelerators, take part in international venture events, or incubation center development plans.

ICE Technology applied for the “Taipei Industrial Development Incentive Program” in 2012 and received the subsidies for its “innovative platform that helps with smart decision making in financial transactions”. The platform combines real-time message transmission technology and financial transaction service in one, and assists investors in assessing their investment while deciding on the cost in order to minimize transaction risk. ADTC applied for the “Taipei Industrial Development Incentive Program” in 2015 and its focus was on the subsidies for labor and salaries in order to realize popularity of mobile payments and their advanced application and to provide consumers with more diversified service, spearheading the rapid development and industrial upgrade of mobile payment in Taiwan.
