In March 2015, “living lab @ Taipei” was established by the Taipei City Government, this is a innovative experiment that uses Taipei as an environment for gathering all innovation and possibilities by entrepreneurs. It contains many rich and creative ideas, including: Gogoro smartscooter, artistic air pumps, environmental improvement experiments from National Taipei University of Technology, as well as FabLab Taipei’s desire to transform the bottle-cap factories into “Innovator Factories”, etc. Not only can this innovation turn public service quality improvement into reality, but also guide innovative industries to increase productivity, thus spurring metropolitan economic development.

The Central Government and Taipei City Government provides the most abundant and whole startup consultation and environment, solving the problem of today’s youth running into startup obstacles such as the lack of space and resources. With the introduction of resources such as the Yuanshan Expo Park’s Innovation Arena, Youth Entrepreneurial Dream Web, Jinhwa Youth-Innovation Base, and Taipei Youth Career Developmental Center, etc. With assistance in every aspect, we may allow young people to accomplish their startup dreams, and further stimulate economic flow and industrial development.

According to , the newly published “Smart-city survey” indicates all counties and cities’ current and future developmental situation, not only does Taipei take the number one spot on the overall ranking, but also the same position in both the “digital citizen participation” and “domestic and International competition participation rate and score” categories, demonstrating Taipei’s ability for growth and its fierce competitiveness.

This issue references the international consulting firm “Reputation Institute” to present the most reputable global cities in 2014, Taipei global ranking sits in 46th place (With a total score of 63.9), a significant increase in comparison to 2013 (69th). This shows that Taipei has particularly demonstrated fierce competition when it comes to its global reputation.
